6 Camping Games for Families & Kids

Greetings WOO Family,

Camping is the perfect time to relax around a campfire and go sightseeing on hiking trails, it is also ideal for spending quality time with friends and family. A great way to create a fun, memorable trip is to incorporate some camping games.

Cornhole

Cornhole is a classic outdoor game, and all you need to play is 2 to 4 players, a set of cornhole boards, and bean bags. This game is easy to tailor to the age ranges participating and the time you have available to play.

Tug-Of-War

This game is as simple as they come. All you need is a long rope, a flag or ribbon, and a way to divide the playing area. The first to tug the flag onto their side of the dividing line wins. Make it fun by letting the winner pick a special prize like what the next activity will be.

Card Games

Card games are an easy way to unwind after a busy day outdoors. They also help children develop skills like concentration and memory. There is a plethora of games to choose from some of our favorites include Uno, Phase 10, Gin Rummy, & Slapjack.

Spoons

So, Spoons is technically a card game, but it involves a little bit more attention and quick-thinking than Go Fish or Uno. To play this game you will need a table large enough for all players to sit comfortably, a deck of playing cards, and enough spoons for every player except for one. The goal of the game is not to be the player left without a spoon at the end of the round.

Simon Says

Who knew a game about following the rules could be so much fun? Kids will love this classic game. It also helps build sequencing skills, awareness, and motor development. You can make the commands be physical, directional, creative, or even more complex depending on the age of the child you are playing with.

Charades

No matter who is playing, charades are a guaranteed way to get the whole group laughing. Have everyone get involved by writing down the names of their favorite movies, books, cartoon characters, and celebrities. You can even throw in some fun camping-related activities as well. Toss the slips of paper into a bowl and take turns choosing and acting out the item listed without using your voice.

What are your go-to games at the campsite? Tell us in the comments.

Have Fun,

Wise Owl Team
