Hey Woo Family,
As many of you know, we are located in the heart of Middle Tennessee. We wanted to take a minute to highlight one of the state parks that is just a stone’s throw away from us. Tims Ford State Park is located in Winchester, Tennessee on the Tims Ford Reservoir. The park is 1,321 acres and features one of the most picturesque lakes in Tennessee. This park is jammed full of activities for any level of adventurer and makes for the perfect day trip or overnight expedition.
There are three different types of trails available within the park: hiking, multi-use, and mountain biking. The hiking trails range from a quarter mile to just shy of 4 miles and include incredible views of the lake. The multi-use trails are paved which means they are perfect for a leisurely bike ride through the park. They range from .40 miles to 3 miles and we have to say the Overlook Trail (1.10 miles) is gives you an unspoiled overview of the park taking you through winding trees and down by the beautiful, blue water. For the more adventurous person you will want to check out the mountain biking trails ranging from 1 to 3.3 miles. Take in all of the luscious landscape while zooming over the wooded terrain.
Tims Ford Lake is a long winding reservoir, 10,000 acres, providing boating, skiing, fishing and other water reaction activities. Tims Ford State Park manages EIGHT public boat ramps around the lake and leases two marinas, ensuring ample access to the water. The Lake View Marina provides pontoon boat rentals as well as a boat launch and courtesy dock. The marina also has a bait-shop and fish-cleaning area for your convenience. They also have a small inventory of canoes and kayaks available, but it is best to call ahead to ensure your spot.
The park offers multiple lodging opportunities. Home to 20 beautiful cabins which are all equipped with the conveniences of the modern world and situated on the wooded slopes of the lake. Tims Ford Lake also has two campgrounds perfect for RV, tent, or hammock campers.
This is one park you won’t get bored at all. Tims Ford is home to Bear Trace a challenging yet playable golf course which plays up the naturally robust terrain. Hunting with a permit is also allow, in season, in designated areas of the park. You can even spend the day bird watching, the created meadow areas on either side of the park are the perfect place to view open field birds. If you are lucky you may spot a bald eagle which have been seen in the area.
We hope you have enjoyed this look into Tims Ford State Park. We want to remind you always follow Leave No Trace Principles when exploring. Have you ever been to Tims Ford? What is your favorite state park?
