Thirsty? 5 Tips to Stay Hydrated this Summer

Hey WOO family!

We hope you have been getting outdoors and enjoying your summer so far. When it comes to spending time outside in the heat, hydration is KEY! We want to share a few tips to help you stay safe and comfortable outdoors this summer. (Hopefully while you lounge in your Wise Owl Hammock!)

1.) This one is simple, yet so frequently overlooked or forgotten. Drink water. Crazy concept, right? In all seriousness, drinking enough water is the #1 way to stay hydrated.

2.) Be aware of how much you are sweating. Sweating is how your body cools itself. (By evaporating.) The more you sweat, the more water you lose, and the more you will need to hydrate. Recommendations are about 91 fluid ounces for women (11-12 cups per day) and about 125 fluid ounces for men (15-16 cups per day).

3.) Keep cool in the shade. When possible, stay in shaded, cooler areas and frequently take breaks from physical activity. (The perfect time to find a shaded spot to hang your hammock!)

4.) Eat electrolyte-rich foods. Foods such as eggs, almond butter, bananas, leafy greens, sweet potatoes, and avocados (our favorite!) are rich in electrolytes and can help you stay hydrated.

5.) Try using your own reusable water bottle. Not only is it environmentally friendly, it also makes it so much easier to remember to drink water when you have it with you at all times!

That's all for now, friends. We hope these tips help you stay safe and cool this summer.

Until next time,

Wise Owl Team
